From the age of 16, Ben Farrell had a career as a roof tiler for an exclusive roofing system with his dad's company, Rooflines South.

In 1999, after sustaining a devastating fall and moving to Sarasota, Ben needed a decisive career change and his market research showed there was a gap in solid surface countertop availability in the Sarasota area.

With a wide range of carpentry and other skills in his back pocket and the physical and financial support of his parents, David & Valerie Farrell, Ben established Affordable Solid Surfaces in 2001 and incorporated in 2002. 

In 2004, Ben's parents shifted their focus fully back to Rooflines South and, today, continue to build & replace roofs in Sarasota and around the country. 

Ben focused his attention on expanding his product lines to include natural stone and then engineered stone in 2005. In 2006 the company hired it's first custom cabinet builder and the rest, as they say, is history.
